Horse Show Photography &
Equine and Pet Portraits
Diana Field was exposed to photography from a very early age. A
darkroom was part of the rambling ranch house where she grew up. She
spent many hours with her father learning how to develop film and
print black and white photographs. By the age of 10 she was able to
do all of her own processing and won many awards in junior
photography competitions. She graduated from high school with a
scholarship to art school, but her love of horses and her many state
and national awards in riding led her to a 40 year career in the
horse business. All along the way, Diana continued to take
photographs. As an amateur photographer she won many more awards
including “Best of Show” at the Napa County Fair.
Diana’s knowledge of photography, combined with her art background
and her skill at training champion performance horses gives her that
special edge to capture horses at the peak of the action and to
record the beauty of their expression. After dividing her time
between the two careers, she has now retired from teaching and
training horses and is working as a photographer full time.
She still finds time to get out in nature where she
enjoys photographing landscapes and flowers. A collection of her
flowers have been used for calendars and greeting cards. Diana is
available for horse shows and private sessions for both horses and
other pets. A small example of her photographs can be seen in her
equine portfolio or
pet portfolio.
